Bring The Garden Inside with Her Very Own Garden Room

Does your little girl dream of having her own garden? Is she always bringing the outdoors in?

If you answered yes, then a garden room theme is for her! This is the perfect girl bedroom theme for those little girls who are always picking flowers! There are so many wonderful ideas for a garden room and you can go many different directions with it.

Let's first go over the details for a classic garden room. What do you think of when you hear the word garden? Colorful flowers, picket fences, watering cans, bird houses? Just to name a few.

The Walls

Some good colors to use on the walls are yellow, pink, soft blues or ivory. You will then want to add a mural of some sort. You can either do this yourself or you can hire someone. Some garden mural ideas are: a picket fence with vines growing through it, a window with a garden box overflowing with flowers, a garden full of brightly colored flowers with a bench and a bird bath and maybe some garden tools like a watering can, gloves and straw hat.

If you are on a tight budget, decorating the walls with garden posters is a good way to go. They are inexpensive and with a great frame and possibly mat, you can make it look like quite a piece of art!

Another idea for the walls is to use lattice and attach it to the wall. You can then weave silk flowers and vines into it. Attach some wooden birdhouses to the wall. This could give you a very nice 3 dimensional look for a garden room. Go to our All About Walls page for more wall ideas.

The Bedding and Curtains

For the bedding..one word...FLOWERS! Create a flower explosion with the bedding. Make sure the bedding and wall colors for your garden room compliment each other. Finish the bed off with a matching bedskirt and pillow sham.

For the curtains you can use the same fabric pattern as the bedding or you can use a nice sheer fabric. Another idea is to take a strand of silk flowers and wind them around a curtain rod. For more privacy some wooden shutters would look great in a garden room.

There are several things that you can do with the bed. There are picket fence beds that you can buy that will look very cute in a garden bedroom. Or you can also make your own picket fence headboard. Paint it white and attach it to the wall. Tuck some flowers in and voila!

You can also use lattice for the headboard and dress it up quite a bit. If you are partial to birdhouses, a birdhouse mural would look great in a garden room. Just use your imagination!

The Furniture

Some furniture ideas for this girl bedroom theme are:
* A bistro table and chairs (for her afternoon tea in the garden)
* A white dresser (not only to hold clothes but also potted flowers)
* Cottage style toy box

*Clay pots with real or silk flowers
*Garden Tools (plastic for the younger child)
