Horses seem to always stay in high demand when it comes to decorating kid rooms. The great thing about a horse bedroom theme is that both boys and girls love horses.

Here are some ideas to get you started.

The Bedding and Curtains

Finding horse bedding isn't that hard at all. It all depends on what kind of look you want. You can choose bedding with brown horses, black stallions or go the wild west look with the cowboys and lassos.

Another option is solid color bedding. Kids change their minds so much that you might want to consider choosing bedding that can be used more than once.

Some good color choices for this bedroom decorating idea are tan, brown, red, black or denim.

As far as the curtains, most bedding sets have matching curtains.

One fun idea is to use rope as the tie backs for the curtains. This would look good with any curtains you choose. Either the prints with horses or the solid colors.

Instead of curtains you could also install some wood shutters. Wouldn't that look nice!?!

The Walls

Whatever you decide to do with the walls for a horse bedroom theme, just make sure that the colors compliment the bedding well.

If you decide to paint the walls, take the bedding with you to the paint store and pick out a color from the bedding. It could be the same color as one of the horses (tan or beige) or it could be an accent color like a nice blue.

Don't be afraid to experiment with color. You can buy the pints of paint instead of the gallon size and do a little test to see what you like best.

Horse wallpaper border is also a fun way to go. You can put it at the top of the walls where the ceiling and wall meet or put it around the middle of the wall. Why not mix paint and border and choose a paint color from the border.

You can also choose to wallpaper the whole wall or to add wallpaper cutouts of horses.

Horse wall murals are a way to really make the wall stand out. Imagine a stampede of black stallions galloping through a green pasture or a beautiful brown horse grazing in the grass.
