A pirate bedroom theme makes a great bedroom theme for boys and is fairly easy to implement. As with any theme, you can go all out with this or just stick with some of the more simple, basic ideas. We will start with some of those basics and then try to expand on them later. Start with a neutral colored bed sheet and pin or staple it up in one corner of the room to look like the sail of a ship. Purchase a small or large "treasure" chest of some sort, either from an estate sale or a carboard one from a party store, and fill it with blocks of wood spray painted gold to resemble gold bars as well as with some inexpensive play jewelry or costume jewelry to represent the treasure. Choose reds, blacks, deep blues and yellows for the foundational colors of the bedroom (bedding, window treatment, even wall color) and then build on that with the accessories mentioned above as well as dozens of other possibilities.
