Wild About Color...does that describe you?
Do you dream in bright colors? Does your wardrobe put a beautiful rainbow to shame? Do you drive a pink car or maybe want one? Do YOU have a BORING bedroom? If you answered yes to any of these questions then a Wild About Color teen bedroom theme may just be for you!
This is a fun idea for teen bedrooms. There is so much that can be done and the best part of all...no rules! Yes, I said it, NO RULES. Okay, maybe a few rules. For example: never mix neon pink with burgundy. That is a disaster waiting to happen.
Ready for some cool ideas? Let's get started!
The Bedding
The bedding is usually a good place to start when it comes to pulling together any teen bedroom theme. With the Wild About Color theme the sky's the limit.
There are really two different ways to approach the this theme. You can choose to decorate with several different colors or you can choose to decorate with your favorite color and add some other colors as accents.
For example, to decorate with several colors, the bedding can be anything. The comforter can be red, the sheets blue and the pillows yellow. Or if you choose to use your favorite color, let's say it's purple; choose an all purple bedding set and add a splash of another color with small decorative pillows.
The Walls
Oh what you can do with the walls when you are Wild About Color! Now, some of you parents may have a say in what goes and what doesn't. Both parties (teens and parents) need to sit down and map out a plan. You can tastefully paint several walls different colors but the key is that they compliment each other. Go to a local paint store and get your hands on a color wheel. It will show you which colors look best with each other. You can also get some great advice from the paint pros there at the store.
One great idea for this teen bedroom theme is to paint the walls different shades of your favorite color. Sticking with the purple example, some of the walls could be a deep purple and the others a lighter purple like lavender. Then add in some other colors with art work or posters.
Speaking of art work...If you are going to have some wild walls, maybe choosing some pictures or posters in black and white would look best. A deep purple wall with black and white prints would look awesome! Or go with the black and white prints that have a touch of color here and there. It's best to make the art work simple for this theme since you will have a lot of color going on.
The Floors
When it comes to the floors in this teen bedroom, there are the extreme ideas and the not-so-extreme ideas. If you are wanting to redo your room in let's say...neon pink and your carpet is burnt orange, that might cause a problem. The extreme options are to rip up the carpet and hope for hardwood floors or to put in new carpet. If you go with the new carpet idea, check at any carpet store and ask about remnants. You can sometimes find great deals this way.
Some other ideas for the floors in a Wild About Color room are rugs. There are so many cool rugs out there for almost any theme room. Shag rugs are very popular and quite comfy! They come in pink, blues, purples etc... Modern and abstract rugs are another great option and have some very cool designs.
The Furniture
For the best furniture options for teen bedrooms, visit the

page. It will give you some very useful info on how to best set up your teen's room in different zones.
As far as furniture looks for a Wild About Color theme really anything goes: white, natural wood or even black will look good.
The Accessories
What's a room without some accessories? Since this teen bedroom theme is so broad, I will leave most of the accessory ideas up to you. Don't fret...you can do it! I will give you a few ideas to spark that creative bone in your body:
(1) Silk flowers - in vases, in baskets(2) Bean Bags (not only are they functional, but they look good too!)(3) Lamps (disco balls, black lights, beaded lamps, string lights)(4) Picture frames to put on the dresser or night stand(5) Bulletin Board to display reminders and favorite photos
That should help you a little! Just don't over-do-it on the accessories because it can make the room look really cluttered.
