A Woodsy Bedroom Theme- For the Teen Who Loves the Outdoors!

Are you the outdoor type? A woodsy bedroom theme is a perfect idea for those teens who love to camp, hike, fish and hunt.

Filling your room with all the comforts of a log cabin is a really fun idea! What kinds of things come to mind when you think of the word "woodsy"? Flannel sheets and blankets, moose, bears, lanterns, pine trees etc... Just to name a few. Let's get started!

The Walls

How you do the walls depends on how much money and time you would like to spend on your project. Let's start with the easiest ideas and then move our way up.

*Budget Friendly*

The most budget friendly and fastest way to decorate the walls are to add posters. Once they are framed they look really nice. Some posters even look like framed art and appear more expensive looking than they really are. Some poster ideas for a woodsy bedroom theme are: black bears, moose, moose photography, fishing or log cabins.

Another idea is to paint the walls a solid color. A few good color choices are: tan, brown, off white or green. Paint the walls, add a few framed posters and voila! you are on your way to one good lookin' room!

*Wallpaper and Murals*

A lot of wallpaper and murals are easier on the budget these days and are also fairly easy to apply. If you decide to wallpaper consider putting up a simple border around the top of the walls or in the center and paint the rest of the wall. There are some great border choices that include moose, pine trees, canoes, fish, log cabins etc... A simple black and red plaid border would also look great in a woodsy bedroom theme.

If you want to wallpaper the whole wall a great look for this theme room is log wallpaper. This will really make you feel like you are in your own log cabin home.

When it comes to murals you have a couple of different options. One is to go with the murals that are basically like wallpaper and you can hang them yourself with an extra hand or two. Or you can also hire an artist to come and paint a mural for you. Some good mural choices are mountains, trees, wildlife, log cabins and more. A good idea for a woodsy bedroom theme is to make three of the walls the "indoor" look by using the log wallpaper and the third wall can be the scenic "outdoor" look. Imagine laying in bed and looking out over the lake and mountains. You can create just about any look and feel you want.

The Bedding and Windows

There are a variety of bedding choices for this type of theme. Quilts with colors like red, green, brown and black are a perfect choice. Or go for bedding with prints like moose, bears, fish and log cabins.

For the windows there are some really creative ideas you could do. Instead of curtains consider putting up some rustic looking shutters. If you decide to hang curtains don't use any ol' curtain rod. Go in your back yard and round up some great branches. Trim them up a little, hang some curtain brackets and you've got some cheap curtain rods that took little effort but look fantastic!

The Accessories

This is where it gets fun!! Personally this is my favorite part to any room and this is where the room can really take on a personality. Here are some accessory ideas to get your creatvie juices flowing:

* Hang a fishing pole in the wall
* Bear skin rugs
* Bear bean bag
* Decorative lamps with moose, bears or fish
* Silk trees

That should help get you started and spark some ideas in your head!

A woodsy bedroom theme is a great idea for a teen bedroom. Enjoy decorating!
